Private Water Wells

Private water wells supply 23% of all Ontarians with household water.

In the Thunder Bay District, even homes within city limits may utilize a private well. Knowing how to maintain and protect your water supply is vital to your families health and safety.

For more information on Well Water Safety, click here and on the links at the left hand side of this page.

The Well Aware program is offered by EcoSuperior and Green Communities Canada with funding support from the Ontario Ministry of the Environment.

Well Aware home visits, conducted by trained Water Guides, help rural well owners identify priorities for action to protect their drinking water source. The visits, which are voluntary, confidential, and non-regulatory, guide well owners through a self-assessment to help identify and address potential risks to their well water.

For more information or to book a home visit, call EcoSuperior at 624-2140 or visit  http://www.ecosuperior.org/water_wellaware.html
