FREE Prenatal Breastfeeding Class
One of the best ways a pregnant woman can prepare for breastfeeding is to learn as much as she can about breastfeeding before the baby arrives.
Prenatal breastfeeding classes are available at:
1) The Maternity Centre (located beside the Thunder Bay Regional Hospital on Oliver Road) offers a one time 2 hour free breastfeeding class for prenatal women and their support person on the 1st Wednesday of the month in the evening. 2) La Leche League offers a one time 2 hour free breastfeeding class for prenatal women and their support person on the 3rd Wednesday of the month at the Midwives office located on Hewitson Street. To register call 622-2229.
Breastfeeding Support Groups
Bosom Buddies is a no charge drop-in mother to mother support group located at the Maternity Centre for moms with babies who are up to 8 weeks of age. This group meets on Mondays and is led by a lactation consultant. Call 684-6228 for more information.
Breastfeeding Friends & Clinic is a no charge drop-in mother to mother support group for moms and babies of all ages. Pregnant moms are welcome to attend. A Lactation Consultant from the Thunder Bay District Health Unit is available to see moms by appointment or as a drop-in as available. This group meets on Tuesday afternoons from 1-3pm at:

La Leche League is a mother to mother support group that meets monthly, led by experienced breastfeeding counselors who also provide telephone support. Prenatal information and support is available and prenatal women are welcome to attend meetings. For information about meeting dates and location call:
