What can I do to help?

ANYONE can help!  Besides monetary donations, which are ALWAYS needed and appreciated - you can help in many ways.

  • You can give your TIME - volunteers are always needed at food banks or soup kitchens, to assist with community kitchens or gardens, to be part of working groups such as the Food Action Network, or to volunteer at school nutrition programs.

  • You can provide SPACE - such as kitchen facilities for a Community Kitchen, or a plot of land for a Community Garden.

  • You can donate FOOD to any program - canned or dry foods that don't easily go bad are best for food banks, but community kitchens, soup kitchens, and school programs can use milk, margarine, bread, produce or other "perishables" that are fresh.

  • You can donate SUPPLIES - for community kitchens: household appliances, utensils, pots and pans, or other items that are in good condition. For Gardens: garden implements, soil, seeds, fertilizer, or any items that can help a garden grow.

  • You can be a DRIVER - if you have a vehicle, you can help those who don't by taking them to their community garden plot or community kitchen, or even to a food bank or grocery store.

  • You can be a SPONSOR - often community kitchens, community gardens and school nutrition programs rely on a sponsor who can provide ongoing financial support. Sponsors are usually community or service groups.
