March is Nutrition Month and this year's theme is: Spotlight on food and nutrition!
The National Nutrition Month® Campaign 2008 will invite you to take action to eat healthier, be more active and feel great. During March, put healthy eating in the spotlight. Make at least one positive change for yourself or make a change that helps the whole family. Choose from Dietitians of Canada "Top Ten" list of healthy eating ideas:
- Want to feel your best? Eat well and get physical!
- Benefit from balance– Challenge family members to achieve healthy weights.
- Quality counts – Whether at home, school, work or play, keep healthy food choices top of mind!
- Give your food portions a makeover – tune in to moderation in serving sizes.
- Colour your world with vegetables and fruits!
- Be a savvy shopper – get the nutrition facts on foods from the label.
- Make meal time a family affair!
- Healthy eating is more than a flash in the pan – it’s a lifetime commitment!
- Make www.dietitians.ca your ‘go to’ place for trusted nutrition information and fun healthy eating ideas!
- Have a nutrition question? Ask a Registered Dietitian! Busy lives are making it more and more difficult for families to prepare healthy meals and enjoy them together - and this can affect our health. The "Cook it up healthy!" campaign encourages us to learn about the benefits and joys of cooking, and discover that healthy eating can be tasty!
