Under the Day Nurseries Act, all children attending a licensed day care or day nursery must be immunized according to the recommended immunization schedule for their age.
The operator of the licensed facility has a legal obligation to make sure that all the children in their care are immunized according to the recommended immunization schedule for their age.
It is the parents' responsibility to inform the Health Unit of their child's immunizations so that records are up to date. Health care providers do not automatically inform the Health Unit when vaccines are given.

Exemptions of immunization based on medical, religious or conscientious grounds may be obtained from the Health Unit. If an exemption is required, please call the Health Unit at 625-5925 or 1-888-294-6630, ext. 5925 to make an appointment with the Commissioner of Oaths.
