Registered Nurses in the Vaccine Preventable Disease Program are responsible for the assessment of immunization records of staff and children in day-care as well as students in school, the provision of annual immunization clinics in schools for students and weekly immunization clinics at the health unit for the community.
A weekly Travel Clinic is provided at the health unit to assess the needs of individuals traveling to foreign countries. Influenza clinics are offered each fall at the health unit and in the community. Ministry funded vaccines are provided free to physicians, hospitals, clinics, correctional centers, colleges and universities.
