August 18, 2010 - The Health Unit has placed the following locations under a swimming advisory.
• Boulevard Lake - Main (Lakeview)
• Boulevard Lake - Sandycove
• Boulevard Lake - Sunnyside
• Beardmore - Poplar Lodge (Site #2)
Water quality tests indicate higher than acceptable E. coli bacteria levels at these beaches. High E. coli levels pose possible risks to bathers. These risks include a variety of skin, eye, nose and throat infections, and stomach illnesses.
Swimming advisory signs are posted by the city.
Public Health Inspectors regularly test beaches in the District of Thunder Bay from mid June to the end of August. Updates of beach water quality can be found on the Health Unit website at tbdhu.com/eh
