Officials at the Thunder Bay District Health Unit and Versa Care Centre have closed the long-term care home to visitors due to an outbreak of gastrointestinal illness.

Visitor restrictions have been implemented. Admissions, transfers and discharges have been suspended. Family members who are concerned about residents are encouraged to phone the nursing station to pass on messages.

The facility is an Elections Canada polling station 155. About 400 people are listed to vote at this poll. Voters will be allowed in to cast their ballot until the station closes at 9:30 pm tonight. Appropriate infection control measures have been put implemented to isolate the facility residents from the voting public.
