Officials at the Thunder Bay District Health Unit and Nipigon District Memorial Hospital have instituted restrictions in the hospital’s Long-Term Care Wing due to an enteric outbreak with symptoms of diarrhea, fever and vomiting. The source of the illness is under investigation.
Visitors and volunteers will not be allowed in the Long-Term Care Unit. Admissions, transfers and discharges have been suspended in and out of the unit. There are twenty‑one residents in the Unit.
Anyone who is concerned about family members can phone the Hospital at (807) 887‑3026.
Currently residents of Bethammi Nursing Home at St. Joseph’s Care Group are also under restrictions for similar symptoms. Over sixty people have been affected since that outbreak was declared on March 13th.
