The Thunder Bay Breastfeeding Coalition participated in the 6th annual Quintessence Breastfeeding Challenge which was held on Sat Sept 30 in the St John Ambulance building. Thunder Bay placed 16th out of 138 sites in North America for most number of babies participating and helped Ontario come in 2nd for their category of over 50,000 births just behind Quebec.
The local site had 57 babies and 56 mothers participating in the challenge to breastfeed at 11am local time.
Thunder Bay was the 3rd largest site in Ontario behind Ottawa and Toronto. Currently, no break down is available regarding the turnout in proportion to the number of births in our city.
Information is posted at the babyfriendly.ca website as it becomes available.
