Flu Clinic Schedule Posted

October 25, 2006

A tentative flu clinic schedule for the city and district is now available at the Thunder Bay District Health Unit website (tbdhu.com). The schedule will not be “confirmed” until the Health Unit receives delivery of a flu vaccine shipment expected to arrive later this month.

The shipment of vaccine has been delayed nationally due to a manufacturing problem. Consequently flu clinics will be starting later than usual in all Ontario health units, including Thunder Bay.

The Health Unit advises those who are planning to attend the first clinics to call the Flu Line at 624-9082 or visit the website a day or two before the clinic to confirm that the clinics will be taking place.

The first three local clinics to take place are reserved for high risk individuals

*Tues. Nov. 7

9:00 am – 12:00 pm

Herb Carroll Centre

1100 Lincoln St.

*Thurs. Nov. 9

9:30 am – 3:30 pm

55 Plus Centre

700 River St.

*Fri. Nov. 10

9:30 am – 3:30 pm

55 Plus Centre

700 River St.

High risk includes anyone over the age of sixty five, any child or adult with a chronic medical condition, health care workers and emergency service workers.

Due to the anticipated rush of those who may be anxious to get the vaccine, it is likely that these first clinics will be very busy.  Car pooling is advised.
