Officials at the Thunder Bay District Health Unit and St. Joseph’s Care Group – Lakehead Psychiatric Hospital site, are investigating an outbreak of enteric illness in the facility’s Dementia Care Unit. Symptoms of the illness include nausea, diarrhea and vomiting.

All admissions, transfers and discharges on the Dementia Care Unit are suspended. Visitation has also been cancelled for this Unit, only.

The rest of the hospital is not under outbreak restrictions.
