March 7, 2007 - Officials at the Thunder Bay District Health Unit and Chartwell Select Retirement Home on Arundel Street are investigating several cases of enteric illness with symptoms that include vomiting and diarrhea.

To contain the illness, Chartwell has closed the facility to visitors.

Enteric illness is also known as gastrointestinal illness and involves symptoms of the stomach and digestive system.

Thunder Bay District Health Unit would like to remind residents of the importance of staying home if you are ill and the value of regular handwashing to stop the spread of viruses during this season.
