Swimming Advisories Issued for Boulevard Lake

August 28, 2008 - The Thunder Bay District Health Unit has placed three beaches at Boulevard Lake under swimming advisories.

Water quality tests at Lakeview (main beach), Sandycove and Sunnyside Beaches indicate higher than acceptable E. coli bacteria levels. High E. coli levels pose possible risks to bathers. These risks include a variety of skin, eye, nose and throat infections, and stomach illnesses.

Warning signs about the hazards of swimming at these three beaches are being posted by the City.

All other City beaches are open at this time.

The public should be aware that beach sampling is now complete for the 2008 season.  Public Health Inspectors will resume regular beach tests in the District of Thunder Bay in mid June of 2009.

Updates of beach water quality can be found on the Health Unit website at tbdhu.com.
