Swimming Advisory for Boulevard's Sunnyside Beach

August 7, 2008 - The Thunder Bay District Health Unit has placed Boulevard Lake’s Sunnyside Beach under a swimming advisory. Boulevard’s Lakeview (main beach) and Sandy Cove locations remain open.

Water quality tests of Sunnyside Beach indicate higher than acceptable e-coli bacteria levels. High E. coli. levels pose a possible risk to bathers. These risks include a variety of skin, eye, nose and throat infections, and stomach disorders.

Warning signs about the hazards of swimming are being posted at Sunnyside Beach by the City.

All other City beaches are open, at this time.

Public Health Inspectors regularly test beaches in the District of Thunder Bay from mid June to the end of August. Updates of beach water quality can be found on the Health Unit website at tbdhu.com.
