February 22, 2008 - Officials at the Thunder Bay District Health Unit and Roseview Manor have declared an outbreak of a gastrointestinal illness on the “Celeste” Home Area at the long-term care facility located at 99 Shuniah Street.   

All admissions, transfers, discharges, visitation and social activities for this unit have been cancelled until further notice.

Relatives and friends of residents may call the facility’s nursing station for more information. 

The Health Unit reminds you to prevent getting and spreading infections by:

• washing your hands frequently, for at least 15 seconds with soap and warm water, or by using a hand sanitizer;
• covering your coughs and sneezes by coughing and sneezing into your shirt sleeve; and
• staying home if you are ill to avoid spreading infections to others.
