February 28, 2008 - Officials at the Thunder Bay District Health Unit and Versa Care have declared a facility-wide outbreak of an enteric illness in the long term care residence.

All admissions, transfers, discharges, visitation and social activities have been cancelled, until further notice.

Relatives and friends of residents may call the facility’s nursing station for more information.

The Health Unit reminds you to prevent getting and spreading infections by:

• washing your hands frequently, for at least 15 seconds with soap and warm water, or by using a hand sanitizer;
• covering your coughs and sneezes by sneezing and coughing into your sleeve (not your hands); and
• staying at home if you are ill to avoid spreading infections to others.
