January 18, 2008 - Officials at the Thunder Bay District Health Unit and St. Joseph’s Care Group have declared a facility-wide outbreak of a respiratory illness at Bethammi Nursing Home in St. Joseph's Heritage on Carrie Street. All admissions, transfers, discharges, visitation and social activities have been cancelled, until further notice.      

Relatives and friends of residents may call the facility’s nursing station for more information.

The Health Unit reminds you to prevent getting and spreading infections by washing your hands frequently, for at least 15 seconds with soap and warm water, or by using a hand sanitizer; and staying at home if your ill to avoid spreading infections to others.
