Food Safety During Manitouwadge Electrical Power Blackout

November 3, 2008 - The Health Unit is advising residents of Manitouwadge to take caution in consuming foods that have not been kept cold or frozen during the power outage that affected the area.

The Health Unit recommends throwing out any perishable food if the electrical power to your refrigerator has been off for more than 4 hours. Any frozen foods that have thawed and have been left at room temperature for more than two hours should be thrown out.

A Public Health Inspector is presently in Manitouwadge and has confirmed the drinking water quality for Manitouwadge was not affected by this power outage.
