Visitors Allowed at Grandview Lodge During Outbreak

December 18, 2009 - Although Wings D, E and F at Grandview Lodge, 200 Lillie Street North, remain in an outbreak of enteric illness, the facility is allowing visits from family and friends.

Those visiting a resident at Grandview Lodge are asked to contact the nursing station for information on precautions to take while they are at the facility.

Visitors are asked to see only their loved one(s), practice appropriate hand hygiene and, in some case, wear personal protective equipment such as gowns and gloves. The nursing staff will be pleased to assist them with this.

Visitors are encouraged to remain at home if they are feeling ill to avoid spreading infections to others.

The Health Unit reminds the public to prevent getting and spreading infections by: washing hands often for at least 15 seconds with soap and warm water, or by using an alcohol-based hand sanitizer, covering coughs and sneezes with a tissue or the upper sleeve, staying at home when ill to avoid spreading infections to others.
