City Beach Advisory the First Weekend in July

July 2, 2009 - The Health Unit has placed all three beaches at Boulevard Lake under swimming advisories for the first weekend in July, including Main (Lakeview), Sandycove, and Sunnyside.

Water quality tests indicate higher than acceptable E. coli bacteria levels. High E. coli levels pose possible risks to bathers. These risks include a variety of skin, eye, nose and throat infections, and stomach illnesses.

Warning signs about the hazards of swimming are being posted by the City at both sites.

Please note that both beaches at Chippewa Park (Main Beach and Sandy Beach) are open.

Public Health Inspectors regularly test beaches in the District of Thunder Bay from mid June to the end of August. Updates of beach water quality can be found on the Health Unit website at tbdhu.com/eh.
