March 25, 2009 - The Health Unit and local officials have issued a Precautionary Boil Water Advisory for Terrace Bay residents consuming water from the municipal distribution system. Today’s severe weather interrupted power and resulted in a loss of water pressure in the municipal water distribution system, and may have compromised the quality of the water supply.
The Health Unit is strongly advising residents and businesses in Terrace Bay to bring water to a rolling boil for one minute before drinking the water or using it in the preparation of food.
Water used for brushing teeth, making baby formula, washing foods and cooking should also be boiled.
Residents may also use an alternative, approved source of water, such as bottled water, for consumption.
This precautionary measure should be taken until municipal and public health officials can verify the safety of the water for consumption.
For further information, please contact the Health Unit’s Environmental Health Program at 625-5930.
