March 11, 2010 - The gastrointestinal outbreak on the inpatient unit of 5 South of St. Joseph’s Hospital, located at 35 Algoma Street North, has been declared over.

To prevent further outbreaks, the Health Unit and St. Joseph’s Care Group request that those who have been ill or who are not feeling well wait until they have recovered before visiting to avoid spreading infections to those most vulnerable, including the elderly and those with other chronic illnesses.

The Health Unit reminds the public to prevent getting and spreading infections by:

• washing your hands frequently, for at least 15 seconds with soap and warm water, or by using a hand sanitizer.
• staying at home if you are ill to avoid spreading infections to others.
