August 4, 2011 - The Health Unit has posted a swimming advisory for the following beaches:
• Boulevard Lake – Sunnyside Beach
The following location is still under a swimming advisory:
• Chippewa Park - Main Beach
Swimming advisory signs have been posted.
Water quality tests indicate higher than acceptable E. coli bacteria levels at this beach. High E. coli levels pose possible risks to bathers. These risks include a variety of skin, eye, nose and throat infections, and stomach illnesses.
Public Health Inspectors regularly test beaches in the District of Thunder Bay from mid June to the end of August. Updates of beach water quality can be found on the Health Unit website at tbdhu.com/eh
