The Facts:
· Every 45 minutes, a driver in Ontario is involved in an alcohol-related collision.
· A person who drives a motorized vehicle in Ontario with a blood alcohol concentration of 0.08 or more can be arrested, fined and lose their driver’s license for at least one year
· A person who drives a motorized vehicle in Ontario appearing reckless and lacking physical coordination can be charged with impaired driving, regardless of their blood alcohol concentration
· Alcohol is a factor in over 40% of recreational boating deaths in Canada.
· Marijuana and Driving – For up to 24 hours after smoking marijuana a person’s ability to drive a vehicle safely can be seriously impaired. Alertness, the ability to concentrate, coordination, and the ability to react quickly are all distorted.
