Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) - Information and Referral
The Central Intake Worker provides the opportunity for people to enter into services of the Canadian Mental Health Association and/or access other services within the community. Office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. Crisis response is available, see “Crisis Response Service” .

Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) – Crisis Response Service
The Crisis Response Service provides crisis support for those who are experiencing acute psychological distress.Trained professional staff are available to assist. If needed, a mobile unit is also available for location within Thunder Bay. All calls are treated with respect, confidentiality and dignity.
Services are available through a 24-hour, seven day a week crisis response telephone line and a 12 hour mobile response team including:
- Pre-crisis support
- Crisis assessment and intervention
- Crisis counseling
- Support to family members and friends
- Referrals and service linkages to other community services
- Follow-up

Thunder Bay Counselling Centre
The Thunder Bay Counselling Centre is a non-profit organization which provides support to families, individuals, couples and workplaces through a variety of counselling, outreach, education and support solutions.
Options:
1. Intake Line
By calling the intake line, individuals can speak directly with a counsellor. The counsellor will screen the call and then refer the caller to the appropriate services. The services may be offered by the Counselling Centre or by another agency in the community.
2. Walk-in Counselling
A walk-in clinic provides free, immediate single-session counselling services to individuals (children, youth, adults) as well as couples, parents and familes. The clinic is held on a first come, first served basis between 12:00 and 6:30 p.m.
