All sexual health services (except free condom pickup) are by appointment only. To set up an appointment or for any questions related to current sexual health services available, contact us at (807) 625-5976.

Same-day appointments:

Same day doctor appointments are available Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays for urgent needs (eg. Clients experiencing STI symptoms, birth control prescriptions, termination referrals) Spots are limited and not guaranteed. Phone lines open at 10am to book – please do not leave a message to book a same day appointment. If you reach our voicemail, try calling back later.

We do NOT assess or treat the following:

  • Urinary tract infections
  • Cold sores on the mouth
  • Sexual dysfunction (erection and arousal difficulties, timing of ejaculation, low libido)
  • Fertility, miscarriage or menopause

We do not routinely offer blood work for herpes or pregnancy, however a doctor may order blood work in certain circumstances. In the above cases, please see your primary care provider (e.g. family doctor or NP) or a walk-in clinic.  In case of emergency, please go directly to the hospital.

Please note: Your primary care provider can provide STBBI (sexually transmitted blood borne infection) testing, Pap tests, and birth control. TBDHU’s Sexual Health Clinic does NOT provide faster results for STBBI testing than other clinics.

Type of Program/Services What does this service currently look like?
Free condoms Free condoms are available for pickup at main reception, no appointment needed.
Routine Pap Tests If you have a primary care provider, please request a routine pap test from them first. If you do not have a primary care provider, call to book an in-person appointment.
Birth Control and Refills Call or an initial assessment and to schedule an appointment (if needed) with a nurse or doctor. For refills, call ahead and schedule a pickup time. If you are getting an IUD, your initial assessment will be in-person. Call to schedule an appointment.
Emergency Contraception/Plan B Call to speak with a nurse. They will talk to you about which emergency contraception is best and schedule a time for you to come to the clinic and pick up your medication.
Pregnancy testing and prenatal referrals Call to schedule an appointment with a nurse.

If your pregnancy test is confirmed positive, call to schedule an appointment with a doctor. They will do an assessment and refer as appropriate.
Hep A, Hep B, and HPV vaccines for eligible clients Call to book an in-person appointment.
Regular STI Testing Call to book an in-person appointment.
STI, Hep C, and HIV testing for people with symptoms or named contacts Call to book an in-person appointment.
HIV Testing Nurses can complete Point of Care tests or bloodwork for HIV. Anonymous and nominal testing is available.
Herpes Call to book an in-person appointment if you are currently having an outbreak. TBDHU does not offer routine testing for herpes and does not see clients for cold sores or other oral issues.
HPV/Molluscum

Call to book an in-person appointment for initial assessment. A physical exam is required for diagnosis.

 

Treatment is available (including cryotherapy) following a positive diagnosis.

 

What to Expect at Your Appointment

BEFORE YOU ARRIVE

  • Drink water and try not to empty your bladder for 1 hour before your appointment, in case the nurses need to take a urine sample.
  • Bring your Health Card if you have one.

When you arrive at the Health Unit (999 Balmoral), check in at the front desk. You will be screened for COVID-19 and asked to wait until a nurse calls your name for your appointment.
