The Thunder Bay District Health Unit is seeking a full-time contract Public Health Nurse in the Healthy Babies Healthy Children program, with the contract ending on March 28, 2025, with the potential for extension.
Public Health Nurses in the Healthy Babies Healthy Children (HBHC) program work with pregnant individuals and families with children aged 0-6. The role involves making postpartum phone calls, completing in depth assessments and working collaboratively to deliver blended home visiting services to support high risk families. Nurses in HBHC provide healthy growth and development education, service coordination, and referrals to community agencies, using evidence and sound nursing judgement when working with clients and service providers. For the position NCAST/PCI certification is an asset and a background in maternal/child, reproductive health, and advanced training in breastfeeding/chestfeeding counselling would be beneficial.
Weekend work as per the ONA collective agreement is required for this position.
