The Thunder Bay District Health Unit is seeking a full-time contract (until January 12, 2024) Public Health Nurse in our Healthy Babies Healthy Children Program.
Public Health Nurses in the Healthy Babies Healthy Children (HBHC) program work with pregnant individuals and families with children aged 0-6. Duties include postpartum phone calls, in depth assessments, breastfeeding/chestfeeding support and collaborative team-work to deliver blended home visiting services and support high risk families. Nurses in HBHC provide service coordination, referrals to community agencies, use evidence informed decision making and sound nursing judgement when working with clients and stakeholders.
A background in child, reproductive health, home visiting, breastfeeding, early childhood/perinatal mental health, violence prevention, child protection and working with high risk clients/families would be extremely beneficial.
In addition, NCAST/PCI certification is an asset and completion of the 20 hour Breastfeeding course is required. Weekend work as per the ONA collective agreement is required.
