Treatment is now available in the community for high-risk individuals to lower the risk of serious illness and hospitalization due to COVID-19 infection.
To be most effective, these medications need to be taken within five to seven days of your symptoms starting.
Take this online screener to determine if you are at higher risk of developing severe outcomes of COVID-19 infection.
If you start to have COVID-19 symptoms (even if mild) or have tested positive, talk to your health care provider as soon as possible. Do not wait for your symptoms to get worse. If your symptoms are severe, such as difficulty breathing or chest pain, call 911.
You must have a positive COVID-19 test (PCR or Rapid Antigen test) to receive treatment. As rapid antigen tests can be negative in the early stages of illness, it is recommended to seek out PCR testing and assessment if you are at higher risk of severe outcomes of COVID-19 infection
Treatment is available through:
- Assessment Centres
- City of Thunder Bay - contact the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre (TBRHSC)
- District Communities and First Nation Communities: Contact your health care provider
