Fort William First Nation Drive-Through COVID-19 Testing

FWFN Drive-Through COVID-19 Testing

May 26, 2020 - The Thunder Bay District Health Unit (TBDHU), in partnership with Fort William First Nation (FWFN) and the Superior North EMS Community Paramedicine Program, will be conducting COVID-19 testing this weekend at the FWFN Community Hall at 400 Anemki Drive on Fort William First Nation.

This testing will take place on Saturday, May 30, 2020 between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. FWFN members living on reserve are eligible for testing. The testing will be completed while individuals remain in their vehicle. Further instructions will be provided at the time of booking.

“Testing is an important part of the overall response to this pandemic,” says Dr. Janet DeMille, Medical Officer of Health. “This testing event will help identify individuals who may be infected with the COVID-19 virus and will provide valuable community level surveillance to help protect the community and to better understand the spread of the virus in this area.”

All people with ANY symptom, even mild ones, are encouraged to be tested. Testing is also available for people who are concerned that they have been exposed to COVID-19 and for those who are at risk of exposure to COVID-19 through their employment, including essential workers, regardless of symptoms. Individuals should contact the TBDHU at (807) 625-5900 or 1-888-294-6630 and they will be assessed and scheduled for testing.

Appointments are required for testing. Walk-ins will not be seen. Please DO NOT present yourself at the Community Hall.

Testing opportunities for all residents of any community who meet the above criteria are available at assessment centers throughout the TBDHU region and through the Superior North EMS Community Paramedicine program.

Test results are available directly from the provincial laboratory system through an online portal.
