DISCLAIMER: IF YOU ARE DUE FOR A PAP TEST, PLEASE REQUEST ONE FROM YOUR PRIMARY CARE PROVIDER. IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A PROVIDER, CALL TBDHU AT 807-625-5976 TO BOOK AN APPOINTMENT OR FOR MORE INFORMATION ON COMMUNITY RESOURCES.

The Pap test is an important tool to help screen for cervical cancer. The Thunder Bay District Health Unit provides Pap tests free of charge to women who meet the Cancer Care Ontario (CCO) screening guidelines:

  • Have a Canadian health card or other health insurance
  • Age 25 or older who have engaged in any sort of sexual activity
  • Have not had a Pap test in the past three years
  • Have had an abnormal test and need testing more often

Women over the age of 70 who have not had abnormal results do not need a Pap test according to CCO screening guidelines.

To book an appointment for a Pap test, please contact the Sexual Health Clinic.
