The Thunder Bay District Health Unit is seeking a full-time contract (September 24, 2026-December 30, 2026) Public Health Nurse (PHN) in the Infectious Diseases program.
Reporting to the Manager, Substance Use Health, the Substance Use Public Health Nurse, works with community partners and coalitions to build capacity to address substance use stigma and promote safer use practices with regards to substances such as alcohol, cannabis and other drugs. They support overdose prevention programing and develop evidence-informed programming to reduce the harms associated with problematic substance use. They apply comprehensive health promotion strategies including creating healthy public policies, supportive environments and skill development opportunities to develop upstream approaches to prevent and/or reduce problematic substance use.
