The Thunder Bay District Health Unit is seeking a full-time contract (October 2026 - June 4, 2027) Public Health Nurse (PHN) in the Healthy Babies Healthy Children program.
Public Health Nurses in the Healthy Babies Healthy Children (HBHC) program work with pregnant individuals and families with children aged 0-6. The role involves making postpartum phone calls, completing in depth assessments and working collaboratively to deliver blended home visiting services to support high risk families. Nurses in HBHC provide healthy growth and development education, service coordination, and referrals to community agencies, using evidence and nursing judgement when working with clients and service providers. For the position NCAST/PCI certification is an asset and a background in maternal/child, reproductive health, and advanced training in breastfeeding/chestfeeding counselling would be beneficial.
