Daily update on the status of COVID-19 in the Thunder Bay District Health Unit

January 3, 2022 - Thunder Bay District Health Unit (TBDHU) is reporting 306 (three hundred six) new COVID-19 case in residents in the TBDHU Region. Current active cases is 387.

NOTE: As of December 31, testing for COVID-19 has been limited to the most vulnerable individuals and individuals associated with the highest risk settings. This means that confirmed cases will significantly underestimate the true number of people with COVID-19 in the TBDHU region.  From this point forward, case rates and percent positivity should not be compared to dates before these testing criteria changes.

**Note that all COVID-19-positive specimens in Ontario are tested for mutations present on VOCs. This testing occurs after the positive result is reported to  public health. Therefore, any change in the number of cases with VOCs identified reported in daily PSAs would be for cases reported in previous PSAs.
