Health Unit warns of Hepatitis A found in Frozen Mango Products

August 5, 2021 - The Canadian Food Inspection Agency has issued a food recall warning of Nature’s Touch Frozen Food Inc. frozen mangoes due to possible Hepatitis A contamination. The recalled products are:

Anyone with this frozen fruit is asked to discard the product or return it to the store. It should not be eaten. More details including pictures of the products can be found on the Government of Canada Website.

Public Health Agency of Canada has also issued additional information through a Public Health Notice about the outbreak of Hepatitis A infections linked to frozen mangoes.

If you suspect you have been exposed to the recalled products, or have symptoms consistent for Hepatitis A, see your health care provider. If you do not have a health care provider, please contact TBDHU’s Vaccine Preventable Disease Team at 807-625-5900. Symptoms of Hepatitis A usually appear within 14 to 28 days of exposure but may take up to 50 days to appear. Vaccination can prevent to onset of symptoms if given within 14 days of exposure (i.e. consumption of contaminated products).
