August 11, 2023 - The Thunder Bay District Health Unit (TBDHU) and The City of Thunder Bay confirm that the respiratory outbreak previously declared on August 8, 2023 at Pioneer Ridge Home Area 2 has been expanded to include Home Area 1, as of August 10, 2023.

There are restrictions on admissions, transfers, discharges, social activities and visitation in the affected area of the facility until further notice. Please call the facility for more information.

July 31, 2023 - The Thunder Bay District Health Unit (TBDHU) and St. Joseph’s Care Group, confirm that the respiratory outbreak (COVID-19) at Hogarth Riverview Manor – 5 North – Marigold Resident Home Area, located at 300 Lillie St N, has been declared over. All outbreak restrictions have been lifted.

TBDHU recommends the public refrain from visiting hospitals, long-term care facilities and other high risk settings when feeling unwell to avoid spreading infections to those most vulnerable and at higher risk of severe outcomes.

Blue-Green Algae Identified at Lake Superior, near Scott Drive (Shuniah)

July 28, 2023 - The Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks has confirmed the presence of blue-green algae in a water sample collected near Scott Drive (Shuniah) on July 25, 2023. It is important to remember that water should be avoided whenever a blue-green algae bloom is present, and for about 2 weeks after it has dissipated.
