Description

Gleaning is a traditional practice of gathering crops that would otherwise be left in the fields after harvesting to help people who otherwise would not have the means to pick their own fresh produce.

After several years’ hiatus during the COVID-19 Pandemic, in 2023 the program is being re-structured and run as a program of Healthy Kids Thunder Bay. The program will target families in the three Healthy Kids neighbourhoods – namely Windsor, Academy and Dease/Ogden/Mckellar and Simpson areas.  The revised program will be coordinated through Healthy Kids staff and TBDHU nutrition staff. Bus transportation (at no cost to participants) will be provided to enable families and individuals to pick various berries and vegetables from area farms including Belluz Farm. If you live in one of these neighbhourhoods, or know someone who does, please download this brochure for more information on how to register.
