Alpha Court

NorWest Community Health Centre

  • Provides a variety of mental and physical wellbeing services and programs. In Thunder Bay, call 807-622-8235 or toll-free 1-866-357-5454.

Canadian Mental Health Association Thunder Bay (CMHA)

  • First Place offers treatment for people aged 14-35 who are experiencing their first episode of psychosis (referral needed). Call 807-345-0060.
  • New Foundations is a day program for people with mental health concerns over 16 years old to work through recovery. Members will have access to their caseworkers during regular hours. Call 807-345-5564.

Lutheran Community Care

Thunder Bay Indigenous Friendship Centre

  • Offers a wide range of programming to support health and wellness across the lifespan. Call 807-345-5840. 

Biidaaban

  • The Biidaaban Healing Lodge is a 12-unit facility that provides the Indigenous population in the Robinson-Superior Area with residential and community-based programming. Call 807-229-3592 or toll-free: 1-888-432-7102. 

Ontario Structured Psychotherapy Program

  • Provides adults with depression and anxiety-related conditions access to publicly funded, evidence-based, short-term, cognitive-behavioural therapy and related services to help manage their conditions.These services include guided self-help resources supported by a coach or therapist, and cognitive-behavioural therapy in the form of one-on-one or group sessions, either in-person or virtually.

  • For men, about men. HeadsUpGuys is the world’s leading men’s mental health resource. Topics include depression, suicide, self-care, building a support team, news articles and stories, friends and family resources, and assistance with finding a therapist.

Peer Support

People Advocating for Change through Empowerment (P.A.C.E.)

Thunder Bay Counselling

  • Child Victim Witness Program provides support at no cost for children under the age of 18 who have been a victim or witness to a crime and are required to testify in court. Call (807) 684-1800.
  • Youth-In-Transition Worker Program: Help youth ages 16-25 transition into a new life and create skills and community connections after leaving the care of the child protection system. Workers assist youth one-on-one to secure stable housing, access health and mental health services, obtain education and training information, connect to employment services, and more. The Youth-In-Transition Worker Program is provided to youth at no cost. Call (807) 684-1800.
  • Youth Outreach Counselling: Youth Outreach Counsellors provide short-term counselling at no cost where support services are not immediately available or access to further community services is needed. The program is for youth ages 12-25 and their families. Call (807) 632-1223.

Integrated Youth Addictions Services (UTURN)

Parents

Parents Like Us. The Unofficial Survival Guide to Parenting a Young Person with a Substance Use Disorder

  • Parents Like Us is a free, community-developed handbook for caregivers of young people who are navigating substance use challenges, offering understanding, support, and practical strategies. Adapted from the original handbook written by parents in Victoria, BC, this version was led by the Thunder Bay District Health Unit’s Substance Use Health program and co-created locally with caregivers through focus groups, storytelling, youth input, and art sessions, reflecting local experiences including voices from Indigenous caregivers and youth.

Thunder Bay Youth Wellness Hub

  • If your child or someone you know is between the ages of 12 and 25, the Youth Wellness Hub Thunder Bay is a welcoming, safe space where they can access free, confidential support—no appointment needed. Whether they're struggling with their mental health, looking for school or job advice, needing peer support, or just want a calm place to hang out, the Hub is there to help. With a focus on wellness and belonging, the Hub offers judgment-free programs and services that meet youth where they’re at. They are located at 1134 Roland Street in Thunder Bay. Parents’ Helpline

  • Monday-Friday, 9:00 am-7:00 pm for parents or caregivers of a child up to 25 years old for free support. Parent support groups are also available. Call 855-775-7005.

Improving Treatment Together Project

  • There is a clear need for treatment services that are accessible, appropriate and responsive to the needs of youth suffering from opioid use disorders. The purpose of the Improving Treatment Together (ITT) Project is to improve the experiences and outcomes of substance use services in the local community for young people who use opioids.

Group Therapy

Postpartum Mood Difficulties Group Therapy

  • Maternal mental health group therapy provided by St. Joseph's Care Group Mental Health Outpatient Program. The therapy group is for pregnant women who are having mental health difficulties or for women experiencing mood changes after baby. Women who have attended this group have given great feedback and reported fewer symptoms after completing the group therapy.

Mother Matters

  • An 8-week online support group run by the Mental Health Program at Women’s College Hospital. It will take place on a confidential discussion board, giving you the opportunity to share your thoughts, feelings, and experiences, while learning from and supporting other mothers. Each week a new topic will be explored, relating to issues that commonly emerge during the first year of life with a new baby.

Healthy Babies Healthy Children Program

  • The Healthy Babies Healthy Children Program at the Thunder Bay District Health Unit has public health nurses and family home visitors that can support you. Learn more by calling (807) 625-5900 and ask to speak with a public health nurse in the Healthy Babies Healthy Children program.

Early ON Child and Family Centers

  • EarlyON Child and Family Centres provide opportunities for children from birth to 6 years of age to participate in play and inquiry-based programs, and support parents and caregivers in their roles. These centres offer safe and welcoming environments open to all families across Ontario, with qualified professionals and quality programs. Families and caregivers can find support, advice, make personal connections and access a network of resources.
  • Programming varies from site to site and includes a variety of activities such as toy lending libraries, drop-in playgroups, Babies’ Day Out groups, Connect groups for children with disabilities, Time with Toddlers groups, Dad’s groups, youth groups, Indigenous groups, French language groups, and food security programs, among others.

Young Parents Program (YPP)

  • This program is designed for parents 21 years and younger and is in partnership with the SAM-MISOL program at Confederation College. Parents come together to learn to cook a healthy meal for their family and receive support from our Young Parents Facilitator to address parenting and child development.

  • This program offers childcare for short periods of time so parents/guardians can attend appointments, run errands, or maintain personal wellbeing at no cost to families.

Pregnancy and Infant Loss

Pregnancy and Infant Loss Network (PAIL Network)

  • Pregnancy and Infant Loss Network (PAIL Network) is dedicated to improving bereavement care and providing support to families who have suffered the loss of a pregnancy or the death of their baby/babies. We are a provincial program that operates as a part of Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre‘s DAN Women and Babies program. Support services have been tailored to meet the specific needs of grieving families, and are available at no cost to all families in the province of Ontario.

Getting Appropriate Personal and Professional Support (GAPPS)

  • GAPPS services supports individuals over the age of 16 with serious, unstable complex mental health and addiction issues who are not already connected to a community mental health or addictions service.

Thunder Bay Addiction Centre

An opiate addiction treatment centre with two locations in Thunder Bay. They include an on-site pharmacy and clinic and knowledgeable staff who will ensure your experience with the centre is a positive one.

Cyber Senior

Canadian Coalition for Seniors’ Mental Health
