Cooking With Kids

Cooking with Kids is a hands-on classroom cooking program, developed by our team of Public Health Dietitians and Nurses. It is designed for students around the grade 5 level, as this is the age where they often start spending time home by themselves after school, and they have the strength, coordination and maturity to work with knives and other kitchen equipment.

Throughout the program, students learn simple cooking methods to start developing the skills and confidence necessary to prepare nourishing and tasty recipes. Vegetables and fruit, whole grains and plant-based proteins are emphasized while considering taste, finances and accessibility.

To bring this program to your school:

  • Schools in the City of Thunder Bay and surrounding municipalities, email Schools@TBDHU.com to inquire about availability for the current school year.
