Walk Broc and Roll

Walk, Broc and Roll (WBR) is a physical activity challenge to be used as part of the Northern Fruit and Vegetable Program.

The intent of the Northern Fruit and Vegetable Program is to support youth from JK-Grade 8 to develop positive relationships with food and physical activity by influencing their behaviours, attitudes and values.

The WBR challenge aims to facilitate the development of physical literacy by providing easy to follow resources to support the school environment.

Walk, Broc and Roll will run from May 1 – 26. Registered schools will receive two toolkits; the first, a Physical Activity Toolkit, outlines the challenge and includes a list of fun examples of physical activities for in the classroom with weekly tracking sheets. The second, a Food Literacy Toolkit sent home to parents and guardians that includes interactive activities and recipes. Participating schools will also receive a School Leaderboard to hang in a school foyer or hallway and markers to record progress on Leaderboard. All materials will be provided in English and French.

The challenge was created in 2021 by Victoria Pullia, NFVP Lead at the TBDHU with expert knowledge from April Hadley, Health Promotion Planner at the TBDHU, Jonathan Chien, Health Promoter at the TBDHU, Megan Bellinger, Registered Dietitian at the TBDHU and Karling Draper, Registered Dietitian at the TBDHU.
