Tuberculosis (TB) Outbreak

A community tuberculosis outbreak was declared on March 9, 2018. The TBDHU is working with individuals who have been diagnosed with active TB to identify their contacts. Someone is considered a contact if they have spent a long period of time sharing the same airspace as the person who has TB (e.g. living in the same home, sleeping in the same room for several nights in a row). These contacts are tested and then treated if needed.

Because many of the TB cases are people experiencing homelessness, they have been linked to Shelter House where they have accessed emergency shelter. Kitchen volunteers have NOT been identified as contacts due to their limited time at Shelter House.
